If you prefer to handle most of the moving process on your own, then moving containers are perfect for you. All you need to do is pack your belongings and leave the transport to us.

Here’s the step-by-step process in a self-service residential move:

Choose Your Moving Container

Here at Ottawa’s Smart Move, we have moving containers in a variety of sizes to cater to your needs. One of our crew will work with you and recommend the best one that fits your move. Then, you can submit a quote with your details and we’ll get back to you with details of the number and size of your container on the day of your move.

Book Your Self-Move

Once you’ve chosen the perfect container for you, the next step is to book it. Simply tell us when and where you want us to drop it off for you.

Moving Day

When you have set a date for your move, our driver will drop off the container in the morning and pick it up after 8 hours. This should give you adequate time to pack all your belongings. However, the loading period can be extended depending on your location.  To know if this service is available for your area, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Load and Secure your Moving Container

An advantage of self-move service is that you can load your belongings at your own pace. The container will have equipment that you will need to ensure the safety and security of your belongings. Afterward, you can add your lock to the door to ensure the privacy of your goods.

Delivery of the Container

Once the moving container is secured, our driver will pick it and transport your belongings to your new destination. To ensure more convenience, make sure that you work with one of our move experts to arrange a delivery time that is suitable for your schedule and transit times.

Arrival

When the container arrives at your destination, what is left is to unpack your belongings. Make sure that there’s enough space in your new home for the trailer delivering your container. Once you’re done unloading, you can leave all the equipment inside for the driver to pick up.
